Christian Katris

Inspired by the likes of Neil Young, Jack Johnson, Chai, and Fieh, Christian Katris creates feel-good music that resonates with warmth and authenticity. Known for his engaging acoustic performances, he often plays his signature blues at fine dining establishments, creating a relaxed atmosphere that reflects his style.

Katris began playing the guitar at the age of sixteen while employed at a pet shop near his hometown, Magna, Utah. He graduated from Cyprus High School in 2011. His computer skills started much earlier, when he acquired an iPod and began to learn about digital audio and operating systems. During his junior high school years, he would often hijack his parents' phone line to download Gorillaz MP3s and versions of GNU/Linux.

Shortly after acquiring his first guitar, he joined Cyprus High's jazz band and began learning the songs of his early musical influences—Modest Mouse, Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and The Beatles—forming the foundation of his musical style. During his college years, Christian leaned into what he knew about music and technology, continuing to carve out unique perspectives on both musical concepts and computing.

In 2014, Christian launched Some Other Blues, the name of his ongoing music project.

In 2018, he moved to Heber Valley, Utah, to helps his uncle's tree care business, Tiedemann Tree Care. Christian captures all the photos and continuously manages the website for the family-owned business. He currently resides in Midway, Utah.

In 2021, the YouTube channel Meccano Man was created.

In 2022, Katris completed an apprenticeship program in arboriculture and became a member of Utah Community Forest Counsil. He also served on Heber City Tree Advisory Board.

In 2023, Christian joined the Heber Valley Jazz Ensemble and began performing professionally in the local music scene.

In 2024, he recorded and released Some Other Blues EP, an all-acoustic album which explores the musical phrases and themes that Katris continues to develop. During the same year he was approached by Grand Hyatt Deer Valley to design a stage and help coordinate their live music program.

In 2025, along with partner Nate Robinson, he founded Local Talent US, a live music booking agency focused on connecting high-quality entertainers with top venues.

Christian brings wealth of creativity and experience to his projects. Keep an eye out for his intamate local performances and upcoming releases.
